About Littlewood Farm
Where passion met opportunity in the Adelaide Hills
They Drove Up That Driveway
Tracey and John Koumi weren’t looking for a 60-acre agapanthus farm when they stumbled across Littlewood. They were searching for a small acreage for their three horses, something manageable and sensible.
Then they drove up the driveway.
“We are usually very sensible people,” Tracey says, “but we purchased it on an emotional whim.”
Seven years later, that whim has become South Australia’s biggest agapanthus collection—over 20 varieties growing across established gardens that now host both plant lovers and wedding couples.
From Lifelong Gardener To Agapanthus Specialist
As a naturopath and lifelong gardener, Tracey had the skills to take on a property this size. What she didn’t expect was how much she’d discover about agapanthus diversity.
“I have always liked agapanthus, I just didn’t realise how much diversity there is in them,” she says.
Walk the property during peak season (November to March) and you’ll see what she means. Standard whites and blues grow alongside rare dark varieties like Guilfoyle and Black Buddhist. Miniature Snowballs flaunt delicate white flowers, while Dutch Blue Giants tower overhead with ultramarine blooms. Even the dainty Semi-Dwarf Albo Roseus Compacta appears, its white blooms kissed with blush.
More than 300,000 agapanthus create a sea of blue across the hillsides—gentle waves of mauve blooms swaying in the Adelaide Hills breeze.
A Garden That Works Year-Round
The property showcases more than just agapanthus. Mock orange trees flower their cream blooms alongside crepe myrtle and magnolia. White lavender and roses grow beneath established trees, while karkalla spreads as groundcover with its small white flowers.
“There is always something in bloom,” Tracey says. “We are constantly increasing the variety of flowers in the garden to ensure we have something flowering at all times.”
That year-round beauty—combined with manicured topiary gardens, a pavilion overlooking the hillside, and a crystal-blue lake at the heart of the property—is what makes Littlewood work equally well for plant buyers and wedding couples.
Two Businesses, One Philosophy
When Sam came on board to manage weddings and events, he brought decades of hospitality experience and a philosophy that matched Tracey and John’s approach: people remember how they feel, not just what they see.
That’s why plant buyers can walk among growing agapanthus before purchasing. Why wedding couples feel the ambience before talking money. Why both experiences focus on genuine service rather than quick transactions.
The garden that Tracey fell in love with seven years ago now serves two purposes—growing exceptional agapanthus and creating that moment when visitors walk through the gate and exhale.
